Chunky gold assemblage jewelry I made as an example for my ed-support class. Its made of paperclay, found objects, polyurethene glue and flywire. Good fun to make.
This is a collection of images and a thread of running conversation, I work as an art teacher so there is a variety of my stuff and related items so enjoy, mock, point at, guffaw, muse or simply look at the following....stuff.. and..have a..nice....day! (What a polite man! I think I'll continue reading! Wow, I wonder if he's married! SHH he might here you!) I heard you, and no I'm not. damn it!
This was a very unflattering self portrait in oils, 3 hours, 30x30cm on canvas, sitting at the kitchen table. It was a fun experiment because I worked straight into it with paint with no drawing underneath. Its got some problems, but heck, doesn't everyone have problems.
This is a common garden variety iron resting on a mirror, thats facing up to the ceiling in one of our classrooms. It appears animated, a frozen moment. Irons can tend to have a mind of their own. Especially when you're in a hurry....they suddenly loose bladder control all over the front of you good trousers. And since I hardly ever use distilled water, it ends up leaving a terrible watermark that looks horribly like an advert for Tenna Man.
Put a student on a flexible acrylic mirror, as you do...anyway, took the shot and modified it in Photoshop.
Had a particularly revolting last period with a group of year 9's in a painting class. I incorperated torn pieces of behavior contracts that I had written out during class. I then collected the wasted paint left over on the kid's paint trays after class and used my fingers to paint an unhappy portrait of myself with the torn paper smushed into the background. It took about one hour. Reminds me of George Gittoes work related to suffering under difficult regimes.
